Aftercare

For Tattoos:
  • Remove bandage after 2-4 hours and pat dry. Use a small amount of the recommended ointment on it for the next 1-2 days. Switch to an unscented body lotion for the rest of the week.
  • *DO NOT LET YOUR TATTOO DRY OUT COMPLETELY.
  • *DO NOT EXPOSE YOUR TATTOO TO DIRECT SUNLIGHT.
  • *DO NOT SOAK IN A BATH OR POOL.
  • *DO NOT PICK OR SCRATCH IT.
  • Peeling and itching are normal. You may put a nonstick bandage over tattoo under clothing to prevent chafing. Proper care means maintaining its color and detail! Call us if you have any concerns with your healing process.

For Piercings:
  • A normal piercing may be tender, swollen, and bruised for up to a few weeks. Bleeding within the first few days and secretions of a white/yellowish discharge are possible. Skin will often tighten around the jewelry during the healing process.
  • *AVOID TOUCHING YOUR PIERCING(S) WITH UNCLEAN HANDS DURING HEALING PROCESS!
  • FACIAL AND EAR PIERCINGS:
Wash hands thoroughly with a liquid antibacterial soap (We recommend Dial) and bring it to a lather with your fingertips and gently massage it into the piercing. You can do this in the shower after cleaning applying all other products. Rinse your piercing well. Do this twice daily!
  • ORAL PIERCINGS:
For the first week or so, avoid alcoholic beverages, tobacco, spicy foods and generally anything that you know to irritate your mouth. You can suck on ice or popsicles to alleviate swelling or pain. Rinse mouth with Listerine after eating, smoking or drinking anything besides bottled water. Any oral sexual activity should be avoided for the first 6 weeks.
  • NAVEL, NIPPLE OR SURFACE PIERCINGS:
Follow the same procedure for facial and ear piercings, washing twice daily with antibacterial soap in the shower. Avoid scented lotions or sprays as they can irritate the piercing! For nipple piercings, clean, loose clothing and sports bras (for women) are recommended for sleeping!
  • GENITAL PIERCINGS:
Panty liners are great idea to absorb excess moisture and to cushion the piercing. It’s a good idea to urinate AFTER cleaning the piercing, to help expel excess soap from the sensitive area. Your urine is sterile to your own body! Any sexual contact should be gentle, and safe. Condoms, dental dams, and latex gloves are all good ideas.
  • ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Warm soaks in sea salt water can be very beneficial to the healing process, and can aid in shrinking keloids. Tea tree oil can be massaged into piercings as well. Diet, nutrition and plenty of sleep do wonders for a healing piercing!
